Chemung River Trails Clean-up
Meet @ Grove Street Boat Launch,
Elmira, NY
Dates to be announced
The Finger Lakes Mountain Bike Club (FLMBC) will be conducting  trail clean-ups throughout the 2011 season along the historic
Chemung River Trails in Elmira, New York. The Chemung River and these trails inspired Mark Twain in writing a few of his famous
books such as "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer," "The Prince and the Pauper," "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" and
"Adventures of Huckleberry Finn". This Trail also sits on the exact spot that was home to Elmira's Civil War Confederate Prison
Camp. appropriately  named "Helmira". It was also the entrance to "Rorick's Glen" in the early 1900's that is said to be the most
extravagant performing arts center in the country back in the days. Lots of history on this trail!  Some say it's haunted, but that does
not keep FLMBC away from the upkeep of this trail.  Approximately 10-15 volunteers show up on a regular basis to remove trash and
keep the trail safe for bikers, hikers and pet walkers who use this trail on a daily basis. These clean-ups will be a real treat with the
support of 53x11 Coffee!  53x11 Coffee provides coffee for the workers. The Finger Lakes Mountain Bike Club would like to thank
53x11 Coffee for their efforts in supporting this project as well as others across the country.  Companies such as 53x11 Coffee
make a difference in every day healthy lifestyles more than they may realize. We are proud to be partnered with them for this project.
